Thanksgiving is such a wonderful time. We've always valued friends and family, so this holiday always maintains a special place within our hearts. Since coming to America from El Salvador, it's been a holiday largely enjoyed by our family.
Everyone has their own traditions during Thanksgiving. Such is the same with us. A Fuentes family tradition on Thanksgiving is to make sandwiches de chumpe (turkey sandwiches). After a turkey is prepared in the oven, these sandwiches are then made on homemade Pan Frances by Gloria. The sauce used with the sandwiches takes two days to make and is from Gloria's grandmother's own recipe. It's a different take on the traditional American turkey, but it's something that we hold dear to our hearts.
So now you know what we'll be doing on Thanksgiving day with our family. With that in mind, we wanted to let you know that all of our locations will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so our wonderful staff can also enjoy their family traditions. However, don't worry: we'll reopen on Friday so your Latin and Salvadorian favorites will still be waiting for you. With that in mind, we also want you to know that one thing in particular we're thankful for yearly is you. From our humble beginnings in Oak Cliff to to our restaurants across the state of Texas, it means the world to know so many of you and to share our lives with (and vice versa)! We view you as friends and family and not just restaurant patrons because that's precisely what you are. Every one of you is wonderful.
Clearly there's a lot to be thankful for this year. We hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving day and can't wait to see you soon. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
